P. M. BRIEFING : High Court to Hear Boeing Appeal
- Share via
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court today agreed to hear the appeal of five former Boeing executives ordered to return $485,000 paid them by Boeing when they accepted high-level Pentagon positions in 1981-82.
Boeing said the money was severance payments, but the Justice Department sued Boeing and the five officials, saying the payments were made only because the men were assuming government positions and were in violation of a U.S. law against supplementing the salary of federal workers.
The five officials are T. K. Jones, Harold Kitson, Melvyn Paisley, Herbert Reynolds and Lawrence Crandson.
