A 37-year-old Miami man was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, using an unlawful license and leaving the scene of an accident in which Austrian tennis star Thomas Muster was injured early Saturday morning.
Miami police said Robert Norman Sobie was the driver of a car that struck a vehicle on loan to Muster and pushed it back into Muster’s knee. Muster, who was standing behind the car, was getting sandwiches after winning his semifinal match in the International Players Championships.
Muster, 21, suffered torn knee ligaments in the accident. He may be sidelined for up to nine months. He was forced to default Sunday’s final to Ivan Lendl.
