A federal grand jury in New York indicted a Long Island company for importing aircraft parts from South Africa in the first indictment issued under a federal law prohibiting trade with the white-ruled government. Air Ground Equipment Sales Inc. of West Babylon, N.Y., allegedly falsified documents to buy four jet engines from South African Airways to evade the 1986 Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act. The company, which has offices in California, Florida, Israel and England, allegedly bought the four Pratt & Whitney engines used in Boeing 747s for $1.5 million.
