A tornado watch was posted over parts of southern Illinois and Missouri, Kentucky and Arkansas. In Grayville, Ill., a tornado snapped trees and utility poles and overturned vehicles. There also were reports of hail the size of golf balls and baseballs in Grayville, near the Indiana border. A severe thunderstorm watch was posted for parts of Missouri and Illinois. Golf ball-size hail fell near Flowery Branch, Ga., Osawatomie, Kan., and Drexel, Versailles, Owensville and Red Bud, all in Missouri. Meanwhile, the mayor of Fargo, N.D., declared a state of emergency as floodwaters rose on the Red River.
