Garden Grove police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of shooting a teen-ager in the head in a liquor store parking lot.
Investigators arrested Augustine Gonzales, 22, of Garden Grove and an unidentified juvenile Tuesday night for the shooting of David Covington, 16, of Garden Grove.
According to police spokesman Ron Weigand, Gonzales and the juvenile approached Covington and a group of his friends outside a store at Hope and 17th streets at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. Weigand said that the two groups apparently exchanged words and that several shots were fired. One struck Covington, who was in extremely critical condition at UC Irvine Medical Center.
