Head of Latino Assembly Picked as U.S. Treasurer

WASHINGTON — President Bush on Tuesday nominated Catalina Vasquez Villalpando to be the next treasurer of the United States. Villalpando works for a communications company and is chairwoman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. If confirmed by the Senate, she would succeed Katherine Davalos Ortega.
