Nicaragua and El Salvador

I simply cannot believe your editorial “Salvadoran Shake-Up” (March 21) denigrating in the extreme the election in El Salvador. A fully democratic election with more than 50% of the people voting against hellish threats and you dredge up such terms as “not encouraging,” “will further polarize,” “failure of U.S. strategy,” etc. What in the world are you doing? And then to top off your diatribe you liken the members of the Arena party to the Nazis! Does that not make the FLMN insurgents a bunch of Stalinists?
So your recommendation is for the U.S. to get involved and force negotiation between the Nazis and the Stalinists! Shades of 1938.
