Weekend TV : Three-Part Tribute to Legendary Silent Star Charlie Chaplin on Channel 28 Tonight at 9

Charlie Chaplin would have been 100 years old this weekend, and even at that age he’s the best thing on television.
In tribute to the legendary silent film star, KCET Channel 28 will air a three-part, three-hour biography of Hollywood’s favorite tramp tonight, beginning at 9 p.m. The video profile covers his early years with the Mutual Film Co., his efforts to make it as an independent film maker and director and an examination of several abandoned films he made for fun. James Mason narrates the programs, which include clips and outtakes from many of Chaplin’s greatest movies.
Tarzan and his pal Cheetah leave the jungle tonight at 9 p.m. on Channels 2 and 8 in the TV movie “Tarzan in Manhattan.” Model Joe Lara stars as Tarzan.
NBC (4)(36)(39) will preview its new comedy series “One of the Boys” at 9:30 tonight. Maria Conchita Alonso stars as a Venezuelan immigrant working in an all-male construction firm.
Sunday, another real-life police show, “Cop Talk: Behind the Shield,” bows at 10 p.m. on KHJ-TV Channel 9. Sonny Grosso, the former detective who inspired “The French Connection,” interviews cops, crooks and their victims to relive some gruesome crimes.
