Cypress police and a man they suspected of beating his wife negotiated for 6 hours before the man came out of his house and surrendered early Saturday morning, police said.
The suspect, Kevin William Yearout, 20, of Cypress, was jailed on suspicion of assault, police said. His bail was set at $10,000.
Police were summoned after Yearout’s wife ran to a neighbor’s house a little after 11 p.m. Friday. She told officers that Yearout had “numerous weapons” in the house.
It took police until about 5 a.m. to persuade Yearout to surrender. Officers said they searched the house and found no weapons.
Yearout’s wife was treated for minor injuries, police said.
