Girl Injured: A 7-year-old girl was critically injured Sunday when she was struck by a van while crossing the street with two friends at Hewes Street and Chapman Avenue, police said. The girl, Maria Ramirez, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with massive head injuries and fractures. The driver of the van, Lewis Franklin Sturgill, 37, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of felony drunk driving, said Orange Police Sgt. John Richard.
