NAMES IN THE NEWS : Ailing Liza Minnelli Skips Concert

HELSINKI, Finland — Liza Minnelli, suffering from a severe ear infection, pulled out of a Sunday concert with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., officials said today.
Minnelli was unable to fly from Sweden to take part in the concert at Helsinki’s ice stadium, the latest stop on a world tour by the three stars. Sinatra and Davis went ahead with the show for more than 4,000 fans, stadium officials said.
The Uusi Suomi newspaper reported that Minnelli will be unable to fly for 10 days because of her illness and has left Sweden for Britain.
