LOCAL : N.H. Girl Hit by Car Listed as Critical

A 3-year-old girl was in critical condition today after she ran in front of a car and was struck in North Hollywood, authorities said.
Elizabeth Garcia of North Hollywood was running across Whitnall Highway near Califa Street when she was struck about 1:30 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Bob Farkas said.
The driver of the 1988 Toyota Tercel told police that she saw the child but could not stop in time, Farkas said. Eileen Medeiros, 40, of North Hollywood was not cited, he said.
The child was taken by helicopter to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles where she was being treated in the intensive care unit for head and abdominal injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.
