IN BRIEF : Portland’s Duckworth Out of Game
- Share via
PORTLAND, Ore. — Kevin Duckworth, the starting center for the Portland Trail Blazers, will miss tonight’s game in Seattle because of a severe case of strep throat and is “extremely questionable” for Friday night’s game against the Lakers in Portland, a team spokeswoman said.
The Blazers are also without backup center Sam Bowie because of soreness in his right ankle. Portland’s other backup center, Steve Johnson, is expected to play despite tendinitis in his knees.
The team has three games remaining and needs one victory or a Dallas loss to clinch the final Western Conference playoff spot.
