‘U.S. Short Fiction: Comedy’
United States, 1988-89, 92 minutes 6:45 p.m. A mildly amusing quartet of student films, the best of which is Susan J. Emshwiller’s “Breakfast Messages,” a deft would-be romance between a diner cook (John Naehrlich) and a pretty customer (Laura Cooper). Eric Jewett’s “Dental Sauce,” about an amorous dentist, serves its cast well; the two other shorts are negligible.
