IN BRIEF : Injury Benches Penguins’ Lemieux

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins star center Mario Lemieux is doubtful for game five of the Patrick Division playoff with Philadelphia Tuesday night, team officials said.
Team trainer Skip Thayer said Lemieux suffered a form of whiplash injury in Sunday night’s 4-1 loss to the Flyers at the Spectrum. The best-of-seven series is tied at two games each.
The series returns to the Pittsburgh Civic Arena Tuesday.
Lemieux inadvertently slammed into teammate Randy Cunneyworth in the third period. Thayer said that Lemieux’s head snapped back with the collision and that the league’s leading scorer is stiff and sore.
