MEXICO CITY — The Mexico City subway system reported that it has been carrying an all-time high of 5.2 million passengers daily since Nov. 20, when automobile circulation was restricted to combat smog, up from an average of 4.5 million a day before that date.
The measure takes an estimated 500,000 cars and pickup trucks out of circulation, from a daily average of 2.5 million that were previously on the streets.
