Applebred Wins at Aqueduct

NEW YORK — Applebred caught favored Fifteen Gold Stars in the stretch and held on for a half-length victory Saturday in the $117,200 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes for 2-year-olds at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Ridden by Jean-Luc Samyn and carrying 113 pounds, Applebred covered the 1 1-16th mile in 1:48 over a fast track to earn $70,320 for Fox Ridge Farm.
