When the earth shook and Zsa Zsa went on trial, when the Communist monolith in Eastern Europe cracked and Operation Rescue picketed abortion clinics, when the Pan Pacific Auditorium burned and the Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska’s Prince William Sound--even when President Bush rocked out--a Times photographer was there to capture the event concisely, memorably.
