Leak Taints Water Supply

TUSCOLA, Ill. — Chemicals leaking from a broken pipe into the Kaskaskia River have forced thousands of people to temporarily find alternative sources of water. Spokesmen for Quantum USI, which makes alcohol and plastics, said the pipe from a sludge-holding pit leaked about 750,000 gallons of liquid into the river.
