SOCCER ROUNDUP : Van Nuys Comes Back to Win, 3-2

Although he was only in the match for two minutes, Van Nuys High’s Eduardo Manzanares made the difference in a 3-2 Valley Pac-8 Conference victory over North Hollywood on Wednesday.
Manzanares scored with 15 minutes remaining to snap a 2-2 tie and cap a second-half comeback at North Hollywood.
Van Nuys (3-3-1) trailed, 2-1, at the intermission. Cuneyt Karacuha scored first for the Wolves, and Louis Barrios’ shot tied the score in the second half.
“Its nice after being off for two weeks to have a really good game against a good team,” Van Nuys Coach Cathy Lambert said.
In other boys’ matches:
Granada Hills 5, Canoga Park 0--Strikers Dave Salita and Nolan Ransdell each scored two goals to lead the Highlanders (6-4, 3-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Granada Hills. Goalkeeper Erick Miseroy had four saves in recording his third shutout.
San Fernando 3, El Camino Real 0--Goalkeeper Tony Olivares posted his third shutout and Enrique Moreno, Fabian Galvan, and Erik Campos each scored to lift the Tigers (9-0-2, 3-0-2) in a Northwest Valley match at San Fernando.
La Salle 1, St. Francis 1--Trailing, 1-0, at halftime, St. Francis got the tying goal from midfielder David Beall five minutes into the second half in a nonleague match at St. Francis.
Canyon 2, Paraclete 0--The host Cowboys got the only goal they needed at the 21-minute mark of the first half from striker Jeff Ferguson on an assist from Chris Thornhill.
Canyon (5-3) added an insurance goal 13 minutes later in the nonleague match when center-forward Javier Torres cross-passed to striker Prince Board, who scored from the right flank.
Quartz Hill 2, Hesperia 0--The Rebels (5-4-1) scored two goals in the first 22 minutes and cruised to a nonleague win at Quartz Hill.
Midfielder Andy Putnum scored from 20 yards at the 10-minute mark in the first half.
Alemany 2, Saugus 2--Damon Rizetti booted in a rebound for the tying goal late in the second half for Alemany in a nonleague game at home. Brian Loftus scored in the first half for Alemany (7-1-2).
GIRLS
Granada Hills 1, El Camino Real 1--Kari Lee scored for El Camino Real (5-1-1, 2-0-1) and Karen Maury for Granada Hills (2-0-1 in league) in a Valley League match at El Camino Real.
