COSTA MESA — Larry Reisbig, former Cal State Long Beach football coach, has been recommended for an assistant’s job at Orange Coast College, the school announced Thursday.
Reisbig’s selection is expected to become official Jan. 16 at a meeting of the Coast Community College District’s Board of Trustees.
“I made my mind up at Long Beach that I wanted to get back to this level (community college),” Reisbig said. “I feel more comfortable. At Long Beach, I was becoming more of an administrator. Here, I’ll be able to work with kids and teach more.”
Reisbig, 50, will help with the defense, but no specific assignment has been made, Coach Bill Workman said. Reisbig also will be an assistant track and field coach.
“It’s all sort of new right now,” Workman said. “We were just down getting him a hat and a few shirts so he feels like he belongs. It will be a while before we decide what he’s going to do.”
Reisbig was 11-23 in three seasons as Long Beach coach.
