Athletic officials at the University of Nevada Las Vegas are asking the city of Las Vegas to make it illegal for college athletes to bet on games in casinos.
Such betting is against NCAA rules. But Mark Warkentien, an assistant to the UNLV athletic director, said there are no state or federal laws barring an athlete from placing such bets in Nevada casinos.
