SUNSET LEAGUE ROUNDUP : Martin Scores 18, Ocean View Rolls Past Westminster

Ryan Martin had 18 points to lead Ocean View High School to an 84-51 victory over Westminster in a Sunset League boys’ basketball game at Westminster Friday.

Jim Gwaltney and Greg Evans each had 14 points for Ocean View (10-5 overall, 2-0 in league play). Darren Bernst added 13 points for the Seahawks.

Westminster (5-9, 0-2) was led by Mark Murphy’s 14 points, and Eden Yawata added 11.

Marina 79, Huntington Beach 72--Huntington Beach rallied to within 71-69 with about three minutes left, but Marina took over from there. Cherokee Parks led Marina with 35 points, and Sean Haselrig added 21.

Mustapha Abdi scored 30 to lead Huntington Beach (7-9, 0-2). Marina led, 21-10, after the first quarter and 36-28 at the half.

Edison 57, Fountain Valley 53--Brandon Jessie had 27 points and eight rebounds to lead visiting Edison (12-4, 2-0). Steve Thob added 12 points for Edison.

Mike Merli had 19 points and Kevin Volpe 14 for Fountain Valley (6-10, 0-2).
