A Los Angeles police task force arrested 26 men for allegedly soliciting acts of prostitution during a seven-hour undercover operation near a major South-Central Los Angeles intersection, authorities said Saturday.
A “trick task force” of a dozen officers, including women dressed in street clothes, operated in the “high visibility” prostitution area of Central Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between 5 p.m. Friday and midnight, Sgt. John Paige said.
The task force concentrated on arresting would-be customers who offered undercover police women money in exchange for sex, Paige said.
The suspects, who ranged in age from 27 to 50, were booked on soliciting an act of prostitution, a misdemeanor.
