Hilton Hotels Wins $7.5-Million Damage Award: Los Angeles-based Hilton Hotels Corp. was awarded $7.5 million by a U.S. District Court jury in Maryland, which found that a hotel owner had breached a 20-year management contract with Hilton. Hilton was to manage a Greenbelt, Md., hotel for 20 years. However, in 1987 the owners said Hilton had breached its management agreement and ordered Hilton out of the property by June 30, 1987. The award represents Hilton’s fees for the remainder of the contract. The hotel is now operated by Marriott Corp. (Filed July 6, 1988 Case No. C.A. HM88-1960)
