Calgene to Buy Corn Seed Companies: The Davis, Calif.-based agribusiness biotechnology company said its purchase of privately held Bioseeds International of Minneapolis and its affiliated firms will give it a marketing arm for its corn and corn starches. The value of the deal, expected to be complete this month, was not released. The deal will make Bioseeds’ NobelBear division the newest in Calgene’s growing operation.
