Cal State Long Beach will try to avenge a 78-58 loss to the Runnin’ Rebels at Las Vegas in December. The 49ers made only 27.5% of their field-goal attempts in that game. Las Vegas, which has won nine of its last 10 games, has lost only to New Mexico State in conference play. Long Beach defeated New Mexico State last Monday night, but then lost to Cal State Fullerton, 90-79, Thursday night. Lucious Harris and Kevin Cutler are the leading 49er scorers, with averages of 12.3 and 12.1 points a game. Tyrone Mitchell has had 23 assists in his last two games. Larry Johnson leads Las Vegas in scoring with a 20.5 average. The Rebels have won seven consecutive games against the 49ers in Long Beach.
