Adrian Dantley, rejecting a guaranteed $1.2 million contract next year, has signed an amendment with the Dallas Mavericks that will allow him to play elsewhere in the NBA next season.
The Mavericks agreed to waive Dantley, obtained from Detroit last year in a trade for Mark Aguirre, the day after the season ends.
Dantley’s contract, a four-year deal he signed in November, 1987, would have run through the 1990-91 season. Dantley will be 34 years old on Feb. 28.
