Black Commonwealth nations have refused to back Nigerian plans to have England expelled from the Commonwealth Games because of an unofficial English cricket tour of South Africa.

After a two-and-a-half hour meeting of African sports delegates to the Games in Auckland, N.Z., suggestions of a boycott were also firmly ruled out. Instead the delegates vowed to do all they could to make the Games, which start Wednesday, a success.
