Navy Halts Iowa Repairs; Ship May Be Mothballed

NORFOLK, Va. — The Navy has halted repairs to the battleship Iowa’s No. 2 turret, where 47 sailors were killed in an explosion last April, amid speculation that the World War II ship will be mothballed. Pentagon officials have said two of the nation’s four battleships probably would be mothballed to help with defense budget cutbacks.
