A disruption of baseball’s spring training would cost Florida $300 million, a state Commerce Department estimate says. Eighteen major league teams train in Florida.
The owners’ Player Relations Committee has told clubs not to make spring training preparations. The Major League Baseball Players Assn. has told players not to commit to spring housing.
Team officials, managers and coaches are scheduled to begin arriving between Feb. 10 and Feb. 15. The first voluntary workouts is scheduled for Feb. 16.
