Vipont Offer Extended

NEW YORK — Colgate-Palmolive Co. said it is extending its $14-a-share offer to acquire Vipont Pharmaceutical Inc. until Feb. 2.

First Chicago Trust Co. of New York, which is handling the $94-million offer, said 5.64 million Vipont shares had been tendered by the close of business Jan. 19, the initial deadline.

Vipont Pharmaceutical is based in Fort Collins, Colo., and its main product line includes anti-plaque toothpaste and mouthwash marketed under the brand name Viadent.
