Richard Cansdale was elevated Tuesday from vice principal to acting principal at Valencia Park Elementary School until the district can readvertise for a permanent appointment.
There were no applicants last month among the district’s 160 principals eligible for the job at the district’s special performing-arts elementary school, which features a diverse student body, a host of complicated educational programs and plans for social service projects to help families of the students.
The district will put the post at the year-round school up for applications again this spring and will encourage principals from outside the district to apply, only the second time that principal openings have been open to administrators not already working for the district.
