Moynihan’s Plan to Cut Payroll Tax

Are we, as a nation, so bereft of intellectual capacity that we must stand by while the country wallows in a sea of stupidity concerning our national health problems. Billions of dollars are used up by corporations, companies, unions, state and federal agencies and individuals, as they strive to provide medical care to a large percentage of the people. They are going broke doing it, and still many are left out. Corporate profits are drained, small business cannot afford it, union pensions are bled providing assistance, and individuals are devastated trying to meet the costs of medical care.
The working people, who are lambasted for not saving enough, see 15% of their wages put aside for Social Security and the pensions that it represents. We read that we have $55 billion saved up for the future (on paper). Moynihan, feeling it is being stolen, says don’t save it. President Bush says don’t worry, we will pay it back.
May I suggest we bring NASA down to Earth, and with its brainpower, and others of the same abilities, borrow some of the $55 billion, and paying it back, establish a system of medical care from cradle to grave.
If Mikhail Gorbachev can endure free enterprise, it would seem we could stand a bit more socialism. The battle against communism seems to have been won, maybe we can now proceed to catch up to the rest of the world.
