A 19-year-old Reseda man has surrendered to police in the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old Canoga Park boy, Los Angeles police said today.
Kayvon Shapoor Kadjar was booked on suspicion of committing felony hit-and-run after he turned himself in to police at the Devonshire station about two hours after the accident, which occurred at 7:30 p.m. Monday near Nordhoff Street and Comanche Avenue, police said.
Kadjar was released on $1,000 bail, police said.
Los Angeles County coroner’s officials identified the boy as Christopher Deanfrasio.
Police said two motorists who witnessed the incident chased the suspect for several blocks but lost track of the 1986 tan Toyota truck, which reportedly sped away from the scene.
