Atari Corp.: Citing intense competition in the video game business, the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based computer and video game manufacturer reported a 53% drop in first-quarter earnings. Net income slid to $1.5 million, while sales dropped 4% to $85.5 million. Revenue grew for the company’s personal computers and Lynx hand-held color video game machines but fell for its older models of video games, Atari said.
