A 48-year-old Moorpark man was killed instantly on California 34 when he lost control of his car, which flipped over, dumped him on the roadside and rolled over him.
Santiago Magana, 48, was pronounced dead about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the scene of the accident near Las Posas Road in an unincorporated area of the county north of Camarillo, said Officer Jim Utter of the California Highway Patrol.
Magana was traveling north at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car, Utter said. The car ran off the shoulder of the road and turned over, ejecting Magana, Utter said.
The car then rolled on top of Magana, who suffered fatal chest injuries, according to the Ventura County coroner’s office. Why Magana lost control of the car is not known, authorities said.
