PREP ROUNDUP : Huntington Beach Gains Boys’ Tennis Berth

Dave DiMarino and Bach Nguyen each won three sets to lead Huntington Beach High School to a 12-6 victory over El Toro in a boys’ tennis wild-card match at El Toro. The victory earned the Oilers a berth in the Southern Section 4-A playoffs Tuesday against Loyola.
In 3-A wild-card tennis:
Fullerton 12, Loara 6--Cameron Lindee swept three singles matches to lead visiting Loara. Brian Brennan and Bobby Valayati of Fullerton swept their doubles matches.
In Academy League softball:
Liberty Christian 7, St. Margaret’s 3--Melissa Tedisco was 3 for 4 with two runs batted in and Lisa Gray threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Liberty Christian (17-4, 8-0 in league) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to clinch the league title. St. Margaret’s is 6-2 in league.
