CLU Pair Reaches District 3 Tennis Final

The Cal Lutheran team of Tony Cohen and Matt Simpson will play for the NAIA District 3 doubles championship today at noon at Westmont College in Montecito.
Cohen and Simpson defeated the host Westmont team in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, then ousted a team from Azusa Pacific, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the final.
Cohen also advanced to the singles quarterfinals, in which he was defeated by David Fontaine of Cal Baptist, 6-4, 6-2.
Cal Lutheran’s Paavo Salmi was also knocked out in the singles quarterfinals, losing to Hans Hoegstedt of Point Loma, 6-3, 6-2.
