Police have seized 937 pounds of cocaine worth $142 million in a bust in which two suspects were arrested, authorities said Monday.
The seizure followed months of surveillance and culminated Saturday in the parking lot of a Rosemead restaurant, where the drugs were found in a vehicle, Lt. Frank Pagueros said.
Arrested were Benito de la Cruz, 37, and Daniel Chacon, 35, both Mexican nationals who were being held on $5-million bail. Narcotics detectives said the operation was not yet complete and declined to release further details.
The seizure was the largest in the area since February, when FBI agents recovered 4,716 pounds in Fullerton.
