EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Meadowlands driver John Campbell escaped serious injury in Thursday night’s sixth race when his mount, Either Way, fell after the half-mile pole.
Campbell was fourth on the rail when Either Way suddenly fell, catapulting the driver to the right under My Scooter and driver Ron Pierce.
Driver Mark O’Mara and Polyanthus were hit by the falling horse, but Polyanthus stayed on her feet.
Driver Jack Parker Jr. was thrown to the track when his horse, Dime A Dip, also went down. Parker refused medical attention and was able to walk away without assistance.
Campbell was taken to Hackensack Medical Center for X-rays following the accident.
All the horses escaped serious injuries.
