SHORT TAKES : Stan Laurel Tributes Scheduled

June 16 would have been Stan Laurel’s 100th birthday, and the anniversary will be celebrated in a series of tributes in Southern California and New York City.
Turner Network Television will broadcast a special collection of Laurel and Hardy films the week preceding the date. The Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Moving Images in New York both plan film retrospectives.
The United States Post Office has approved and designed a commemorative stamp for issue later this year or early 1991. The city of Santa Monica, where the comedian lived for many years, will rename a street in his honor.
