COUNTYWIDE : Supervisor Reveals Reason for Absences
- Share via
Supervisor James R. Dougherty, who has missed several recent meetings of the County Board of Supervisors for medical reasons, revealed Tuesday that his lingering illness is the result of a growth on one of his vocal cords.
Speaking in a raspy voice, the 55-year-old supervisor from Simi Valley told his colleagues that tests had found that “there is something on one of my vocal cords.”
He told the supervisors that tests are continuing and that he knows nothing more than what he announced publicly.
Dougherty, a three-term incumbent who is not running for reelection in the 4th District, declined to discuss the matter further.
A county source said the growth was surgically removed last week.
