One man was killed and another injured when their pickup truck spun out of control and overturned on a freeway transition ramp early Sunday, authorities said.
Gabriel Frausto Jr., 24, of Placentia was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:05 a.m. accident on the transition ramp between the eastbound Riverside and northbound Orange freeways, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Frank Estrada, 25, of Anaheim, believed to have been a passenger in the silver 1988 Toyota truck, was being treated for moderate injuries at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, CHP officials said.
The driver was believed to have been too drunk to negotiate the curving ramp and instead lost control of the truck, which spun around and overturned several times, a patrol spokesman said. Both men were thrown from the truck. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
