House OKs Substitute Amtrak Funding Bill

WASHINGTON — The House passed a new Amtrak authorization bill today to replace one vetoed by President Bush because of a provision that would have expanded government review of railroad takeovers. The bill, which was passed by voice vote and sent to the Senate, authorizes $684 million in 1991 and $712 million in 1992 for Amtrak operations.
