Batbusters Roll Into Semifinals of ASA Tournament

Fountain Valley’s Batbusters continued their success in the American Softball Assn. national tournament Saturday in Lodi by defeating the Sacramento City Girls, 3-0.
Jena Sansone, who attends Ocean View High, had two hits and scored once, and Rose Garces, who attends La Mirada, had one hit and one run batted in to lead the Batbusters.
Cheryl Longeway, who attends Kennedy, was the winning pitcher. She got a big assist with one out and one on in the seventh inning when Jennifer Brundage of Irvine made a diving catch in left field to end a rally.
The Batbusters advance to today’s semifinals. The finals also are scheduled today.
