A high-speed chase along the Ventura Freeway through Ventura ended early Wednesday with the arrest of two men and a woman from the Sacramento area suspected of shooting at a passing motorist, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
According to authorities, a driver called 911 by cellular phone at 2:38 a.m. to report a drive-by shooting. Neither the driver nor the car was hit. The tip was relayed to a CHP officer who was pursuing a speeding Nissan matching the description of the car involved in the shooting.
A radio check on the fleeing car’s license plate number showed that it had been stolen, authorities said.
The chase ended near Victoria Avenue.
Jeff T. Wisdom, 23, of Carmichael; Charles R. Turner, 30, of Citrus Heights; and Janice M. Hershey, 24, of Citrus Heights were being held in lieu of $750,000 bail Wednesday night on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a weapon at a vehicle, and other weapons and theft charges.
