UC San Diego Defeats PLNC in Men’s Soccer

Jarret Stevenson and Chris Romey scored goals as UC San Diego defeated host Point Loma Nazarene, 3-0, Wednesday in men’s soccer.
The Tritons’ other goal hit off a Point Loma Nazarene player. UCSD improved to 2-1. Point Loma Nazarene fell to 2-1.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Eighteenth-ranked San Diego State, the University of San Diego and U.S. International open play tonight in second Asics Grand Prix tournament at SDSU’s Peterson Gym and the Physical Education Gym.
The tournament, which includes eight teams, will be broken into two pools for matches today and Friday. The championship-round games will be played Saturday.
SDSU and USD are in Pool A along with Hofstra and Arizona State. Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara, Providence and USIU are in Pool B.
SURFING
Despite losing a heat to Florida’s Kelly Slater, Oceanside’s David Barr advanced into the fourth round of the $100,000 Body Glove Surf Bout competition. Three-time U.S. champion Mike Lambresi of Oceanside is seeded and begins surfing today.
