California Honors: The eight winners of the 1990 Governor’s Award for the Arts, which honors contributions to the arts in California, were announced Thursday. Gordon Davidson, artistic director of the Mark Taper Forum; Lillian Disney, wife of the late Walt Disney; artist Sam Francis; architect Frank Gehry; E.H. Franklin, manager of community programs for Chevron USA; Spectra, an arts program for schoolchildren; the Walter and Elise Haas Foundation and writer-director Luis Valdez were selected. The winners will be given bronze statuettes by Gov. George Deukmejian at a dinner at the Beverly Hilton Oct. 11.
