L.A. Gear Reports Sales Early: The Marina del Rey-based sneaker maker posted $300 million in sales for the third quarter ended Aug. 31, up 40% from a year earlier. Net sales for the first three quarters hit $713 million, up from $451 million a year ago. However, the company said net earnings will probably not reach the $1.21 a share posted in the third quarter of 1989. Full earnings will be released later this month. L.A. Gear stock closed at $16.625, down 25 cents a share on the NYSE.
